Hamster Supplies
Hamster Supplies You Need to be Aware Of
If you were a hamster, what would you like to have in order to survive everyday captivity? Of course you would first like to be treated as family since they have held you in their care and basically took the responsibility of keeping you alive. Before deciding to purchase a hamster, there are a lot of that you have to mull over. And the bulk of that thinking would be regarding hamster supplies.
Hamsters are very active creatures. They like to run around and be free. So what are the hamster supplies that you need to buy to complete your hamster’s satisfaction and make him or her feel like home?
Cage
This is a basic necessity out of several hamster supplies. If you want to keep your hamster inside the shelter of your home for a long time, without getting squished or stepped at, then you need a cage. This is just not any other cage. Remember hamsters are very lively creatures that need a lot of space to run around to. Since hamsters are tiny pets, you have to make sure that the bar spaces are small enough to cage them in. You can choose from wire cages, glass aquarium or plastic tank. Whatever you choose, you have to make sure that the cleanliness of the cage is maintained. Clean it at least once a week.
Bedding and Nesting
Hamsters love to burrow especially if they feel fear so giving them something to burrow at will be appropriate. Bedding objects like shavings of woods are of great idea. Nevertheless, not all shavings are safe for your hamster namely cedar and pine. Aspen can be a great option. Hamsters are shy and skittish therefore you need a nesting place where they can take naps or hide. Cheaper alternatives would be toilet paper or facial tissue.
Exercise Wheel
Pets also need daily exercise, especially hamsters that have an active personality. Hamster enjoy running inside a wheel. There are different sizes that you can choose from.
Food dishes and water bottle
The two most important hamster supplies needed are food dishes. Those that are highly appropriate are made heavy and shallow. Ceramic or porcelain is most advisable since they can’t be tipped over easily due to their heaviness. The edges are safe from being chewed as well. A water bowl is not necessary since your hamster can roll over it and have himself get wet and also his beddings. A plastic bottle that is suspended inside the cage is more suitable. There are different water bottles made especially for hamsters.
